KB = The King’s Brewery, which originally supplied the royal household and the navy with beer. Root beer is the original type of beer in Denmark, which was brewed on the farms. The taste is sweet because fermentation is stopped very early. In this way, only a small amount of the sugar is converted into alcohol, while the rest gives the root beer its sweetness along with the sugar that is added before bottling.
Traditionally, KB Hvidtøl goes with the good Danish rice pudding (Risengrød), but also with open sandwiches, (smørrebrød).
