Shipping: Please note that the cheeses are not refrigerated and that the responsibility for shelf life is transferred to the customer upon shipment. I therefore recommend choosing Express shipping when ordering cheese so that it arrives quickly. Cutting cheeses are refrigerated, but most cream and butter cheeses do not have refrigeration requirements. It is the customer’s own responsibility to ensure that it is allowed to import cheese to the country of delivery. Please note that there are no known restrictions in the EU.

Danish Cream and Spreadable Cheese

These cheeses are characterized by their rich taste, creamy texture and the traditional, Danish craftsmanship quality. The shrimp cheese is one of the most popular spreadable cheeses and is loved by the Danes. The history behind this cheese goes all the way back to the 1960s, when a fisherman and a dairyman were inspired to combine their respective crafts. The shrimp cheese is made with creamy cream cheese and juicy shrimp, and is a perfect blend of salty and sweet. Shrimp cheese is a delicate and unique taste experience that most people remember from childhood.

But the shrimp cheese is not the only cheese that has an interesting origin. The Danablu cheese, also known as Denmark’s blue, is one of the most popular blue mold cheeses in Denmark. The cheese was invented in 1927 by a dairyman named Marius Boel, who wanted to create a new type of blue cheese that would be able to compete with French Roquefort and English Stilton. And he did. Made from cow’s milk, Danablu is a soft and creamy cheese that is characterized by its characteristic blue mold. It has a slightly milder taste than many other blue cheeses, but still a nice strong taste and an aromatic scent.

A fun fact about blue mold cheeses is that the characteristic blue mold is actually a type of mold that grows on the surface of the cheese during the maturation process. This mold is actually edible and is an important part of the cheese’s unique flavor and texture.

Whether you are into the creamy taste of cream cheeses or the strong taste of blue mold, you will find a selection of Danish spreads and cream cheeses something for everyone. And if there is a particular cheese you miss, just write me an email and I will do what I can to get it for you.
